In most of my paintings there are fingerprints, usually not intentional, and I have come to enjoy they presence, as a signature of the process of painting. There is usually a hair in most of my pieces as well, but that will be another detail for another day. Incidentally, the detail at the top right of the page is also from the same painting. Stencilled gel relief with gold leaf.
THE (mostly) DAILY DETAIL
I get really jazzed over the little details in artwork. In the process of working, and sometimes long after a piece is finished, there are these small areas that grab me, draw me in, entrance me. It could be the way a texture has been wrought, or how the colours shimmer next to one another, or how quiet the space feels when I focus on it.
