I get so tickled by those little pools of colour, where the wash sneaks into crevasses and creases, thicker pools drying dark.
This is part of a work in progress, three washes of colour over a bed of gloss gel medium. The ubiquitous Payne's Grey continues to figure prominently, now joined by Transparent Gold Oxide, Sepia and Mars Black.
The difficulty with layering is losing the magic of what lies beneath, being willing to let it go so that the overall picture has cohesion, uniformity and fluidity. So nice to be able to document the evolution, see the details that enrich the whole.
