Shows like this (CAA) are all about the demo sheets (to me), rather than making a full painting, I demonstrate the way materials work together on various surfaces. This is (to my mind) a clearer way to give examples of process than creating a more subjective and personal piece. It's also way less stressful and therefore way more fun.
THE (mostly) DAILY DETAIL
I get really jazzed over the little details in artwork. In the process of working, and sometimes long after a piece is finished, there are these small areas that grab me, draw me in, entrance me. It could be the way a texture has been wrought, or how the colours shimmer next to one another, or how quiet the space feels when I focus on it.
