Having spent part of my childhood in Europe, visiting the great galleries and seeing so many masterpieces up close (I always tried to get really, really close) gave me an even greater appreciation of detail. Thank you Botticelli, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Klimt, Schiele and Jacques-Louis David.
THE (mostly) DAILY DETAIL
I get really jazzed over the little details in artwork. In the process of working, and sometimes long after a piece is finished, there are these small areas that grab me, draw me in, entrance me. It could be the way a texture has been wrought, or how the colours shimmer next to one another, or how quiet the space feels when I focus on it.
