The fourth little window from the left was the inspiration for Finestra, for example. It has been propped up on the windowsill of my studio for ages, and I look into it, with the sun behind it like this, and see some details or little areas that catch me, and I riff on that. This was on display at my latest show, this past weekend, and I'm glad it was not taken home by anyone, as I think there is more to be caught on in this dense composition.
THE (mostly) DAILY DETAIL
I get really jazzed over the little details in artwork. In the process of working, and sometimes long after a piece is finished, there are these small areas that grab me, draw me in, entrance me. It could be the way a texture has been wrought, or how the colours shimmer next to one another, or how quiet the space feels when I focus on it.
