HORIZON LINES
ABSTRACTED LANDSCAPE LAYERS AND VEILS

Observe, address, and interpret the junctions of water, land and sky. Using acrylic colours and mediums, we will produce two to three paintings over two days, using the island environment as our inspiration.

Building up transparent and translucent layers of colour, working with traditional and non-traditional tools and methods, the diversity in format and application of acrylics will be explored and utilized to its full potential. The triple aspects, and changing facets, of sky, land and water, how they meet, reflect, how they are a complement and contrast to one another, is the theme of this workshop. We will explore not only texture and colour, but the effects of light, of seasonal change, and the continuous movement and changeability of the island views.

Work will be based on a conceptual, abstracted interpretation of actual views, photographs and videos.

Previous painting experience is recommended but not required.
